** 2009 Art of Wine **

Enjoy a summer evening experiencing Indiana vintages al fresco at The Art of Wine, the newest can't-miss event in the Carmel Arts & Design District.

On Saturday, Aug. 1 from 5 to 10 p.m., 9 Indiana wineries will converge in Old Town Carmel in a celebration of Indiana wine and art inspired by the grape.

At The Art of Wine, guests 21 and over can thrill their palates with unlimited samples of Indiana vintages for only $15. Wines are also available for purchase by the bottle. The first 5,000 wine-tasting participants will also receive a souvenir wine glass.

Participating wineries include:

Many of the Carmel Arts & Design District boutiques and merchants will host special sales or promotions during the festival, while the diverse collection of galleries will host exhibits that spotlight wine-inspired works created by local, national and international artists.

Some galleries and shops will even bring The Art of Wine to the already-colorful District streetscape by displaying giant, custom-designed Nebuchadnezzar wine bottles transformed by local artists.

The Art of Wine' debut coincides with nearby Crooked Stick Golf Club's hosting of the U.S. Senior Open, a national golfing event expected to bring nearly 150,000 fans for a week of activities to Carmel, Ind.

Entertainment
The Art of Wine guests can also enjoy a free concert by Indiana singer-songwriter Jennie DeVoe. The celebrated local indie performer will take the stage for an outdoor performance at 6 p.m.

About Jennie DeVoe
Attracting fans of all ages, Indianapolis-based Jennie DeVoe is known for her raspy, soulful blues vocals often compared to Janis Joplin as well as her powerful and memorable lyrics.

DeVoe is at her best in front of a listening audience, never failing to mesmerize and captivate with her talent, humor and personality. No matter the venue, DeVoe makes you feel like you're in your living room with old friends until she knocks you flat with her amazing voice, and you forget where you are entirely. Jennie DeVoe is the kind of singer who makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand at attention. To watch her work is to fall in love with someone who is in love with what they do.

DeVoe's song "How I Feel" was the first-place winner of Billboard Magazine's World Song Contest (Best Pop Song, 2004), which is just one of her many "Best Of" honors. Her songs have been added to rotation on Triple-A and college radio stations across the country, and been licensed to several well-known television shows, including Dawson's Creek and Joan of Arcadia. She's performed all over the country, including at the last Lilith Fair, and opened for greats like Bonnie Raitt, Joe Cocker, Lucinda Williams, Jack Johnson, Ray Charles and many more. Her new CD, Strange Sunshine, will release July 21.
