Old Town Carmel Renovation Grants to be Offered
Carmel, IN – The Carmel Redevelopment Commission (CRC) has announced the start of its Old Town Business Renovation Grant Program. Grants of up to $5,000 are available to qualifying businesses in Old Town Carmel.
“We are at a point in the overall renovation of the Old Town section of Carmel where we need to help existing businesses enhance the charm of the area by upgrading the building’s facades. We want to give the smaller local businesses in Carmel an opportunity to get more involved in Old Town’s rebirth. This will be of great benefit as we move forward with the Carmel Arts & Design District and it will also help property values in the area continue to rise,” said Mayor Jim Brainard.
“The CRC is excited about the possibilities this opens up for area businesses as they make improvements to their buildings in Old Town. The area has become a vibrant shopping and dining district and the clientele will continue to increase with further improvements to the area. This is another way we can help our local entrepreneurs improve business,” said Ed Burke, CRC President.

Grant requests must address façade renovation. Partial renovation projects, including new signage, will be considered. All work must be completed within one year of the date grant recipients are notified that grant funds will be available to them. However, the grant funds are not paid until all work is satisfactorily completed as determined by an inspection by the CRC and a City of Carmel inspector. All work should also be completed in accordance with all Carmel and state building codes, rules and regulations.
