United Way of Central Indiana Fall Food Drive and Festivities in Arts & Design District
Carmel, IN – The Old Town Arts & Design Merchants Association (OTADMA), in partnership with the City of Carmel and Current in Carmel present “Fall into the District” on Saturday, October 27 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. This community event includes live entertainment, sidewalk sales, and children’s activities. Events take place in the Carmel Arts & Design District located at Range Line Road and Main Street.
In conjunction with the fall event, a canned goods and art supplies drive benefiting United Way of Central Indiana takes place in the Arts & Design District starting Monday, October 22. Select Arts & Design District merchants will be designated drop-off locations for the donated items. Donation locations are signified by decorated collection bins located outside participating businesses. Bins are placed outside merchants’ stores Monday through Friday, October 22nd – 26th, during normal business hours and on Saturday, October 27th from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Various stores are offering incentives at their location for donating canned goods or art supplies. The canned good/art supply drive ends at 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 27 during the fall festivities planned for the District.
"By most standards, we live in a very prosperous place," said Denise Tull, Hamilton County area director, United Way of Central Indiana. "That any of our neighbors go hungry is unimaginable, yet we know they do. Last year, a United Way agency, The American Red Cross of Greater Indianapolis, distributed 37,000 pounds of food to county pantries, helping 1,790 people in Hamilton County through June 30. We applaud Carmel community leaders for coming up with this creative way to add an element of giving to their fall festivities, and encourage people who attend the event to share their good fortune."
“Fall into the District” activities take place on Saturday, October 27 and include a District-wide sidewalk sale, live bands performing from a stage located in the National City Bank parking lot from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m., as well as fall food vendors and other merchant activities.
Children’s activities will be available throughout the District from 1-4 p.m. with the majority of activities taking place in the National City Bank parking lot. Children are invited to come in costume and trick-or-treat participating merchants, decorate pumpkins, and participate in games sponsored by the Carmel Clay Parks. In addition, children can make their own stuffed animals at the Stuff-N-Fluff® Workshop or have their faces painted with full fantasy face painting by Sugar Buzz. Activities are free and open to the public. A donation of canned food items and/or art supplies is encouraged.
Other activities taking place in merchant stores:
