May Events in the Carmel Arts & Design District

May Activities in Carmel Arts & Design District

  • CURRENT – Enrollment for Summer Arts and Crafts Kids Camps at Artisan Masterpiece Now Open
    • The eight-week summer camp runs from June 9 – August 8, and offers the potter’s wheel & hand-built clay sessions, mosaic, painting, drawing and creating over 40 different craft pieces.  Campers can sign up for weekly, daily, full day or half day sessions, making it easier to accommodate family schedules.
    • Camp hours are 9am – 4 pm.  A camp enrollment form is required for each camper.  Classes held 3rd Floor of Artisan Masterpiece

  • CURRENT – “Sampling Saturdays” at Joe’s Butcher Shop
    • Every Saturday stop by Joe’s Butcher Shop and Fish Market to sample one of the exquisite tasty treats offered from the store.
    • Sampling begins at 11:30 a.m. and lasts until samples are gone.

  • CURRENT – MAY 25TH – “Two Sisters’ Collections” at the Museum of Miniature Houses
    • “Two Sisters’ Collections” contains handcrafted miniatures of Emma Rogers and the collected dolls of Rose Chevrolet.  The Rogers’ displays are room boxes ranging from elegant bathrooms to formal living and dining rooms and feature two glamorous sets of wedding gowns.  The Chevrolet dolls are baby dolls from the Madam Alexander collection.

  • STARTING MAY 1ST – “Celebrating Mother” at Wyant Photography
    • With a $25 donation to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, a family will receive a free session of their choice and discounted prices on their photographs.  Limited appointments available.

  • MAY 1ST  – “Design After Hours” at Artichoke Designs Studio
    • Artichoke Designs is hosting “Design After Hours,” a complimentary one-hour individual in-studio consultation with a designer.  Light hors d’oeuvres will be served.  Reservations required.

      • More than just a book discussion group, it’s an experience!  For girls in grades 6-8 and their mothers (or female relatives).
  • MAY 2ND – Open House of new Sever/Storey Law Office
    • You are invited to the opening of the new Sever Storey Law Office at their new location in the Arts & Design District.  Appetizers from Chef Inspired Creations by Richelle Rider and other refreshments will be provided.

  • MAY 3RD – MAY 4TH – Second Annual Indy Reads “Read-A-Thon” at The Mystery Company
    • Join in the second annual Read-a-Thon benefiting Indy Reads’ adult literacy programs at The Mystery Company.  Volunteers can read for 30 minutes at a time – mysteries or whatever they enjoy reading – continuously for 30 hours, collecting pledges to raise money for this important cause.
    • Event begins Saturday, May 3rd at 10 a.m. and ends Sunday, May 4th at 4 p.m.

  • MAY 23RD  – Grand Re-Opening Party at Grosser & Co. Master Jeweler

  • MAY 23RD – Night of Poetry at the Blue Egg Gallery
    • Visit the Blue Egg Gallery to see works of art by local Indiana artists.  Those interested are welcome to recite their favorite poetry and enjoy refreshments at the Gallery that evening, as part of the Arts & Design District Art Walk.
    • Also, during the month of May, choose your favorite part of the mural that their artists are creating and pay just $1 per square.
