Historical Society Launches Fund

Serendipity will present Grand May Day Teas on Friday, May 1, to benefit the Carmel Clay Historical Society’s new Heritage Fund.  The Heritage Fund is being initiated for the preservation of vintage clothing, books, photographs, maps, manuscripts, diaries, and special collections.

Three seatings are being offered including Luncheon Tea at 11:00 a.m., Traditional Tea at 2:00 p.m. or High Tea at 4:30 p.m.  Former L.S. Ayres models will present the latest in clothing and accessories from Lilly’s of Zionsville.  Door prizes, music and favors await you and your guests.  What a perfect reason to gather friends, mothers and daughters, grandmothers and granddaughters of all ages for a delicious time.  Complimentary tea cup appraisals will be available during the day at The Carmel Old Town Antique Mall around the corner at 38 West Main Street.  Reservations are $35 each and may be made by calling Judy Huber at 587-1017.  The deadline for reservations is April 27.   Serendipity is located at the corner of Main and Rangeline Road in the Carmel Arts and Design District.

The Carmel Clay Historical Society preserves the past to encourage, educate, and inspire future generations.  Headquartered at the Depot Museum on the Monon Greenway at First Street SW, the Society offers a variety of programs.  Over 1,000 Carmel/Clay third graders visit the museum each year to study local history.  The Depot is a popular destination for scout troops and their families.  New businesses use the archives for photo exhibits.  Local individuals interested in the history of Carmel and Clay Township, as well as national researchers, access the services of the Society.  Other Society programs include the Civil War Roundtables, a Genealogy Lab, and the Holiday Home Tour.  Visit the Society’s website at www.carmelclayhistory.org for more information.

Title sponsors are Prairie Landing, a BHI Senior Living Community and Janice Mandla Mattingly Family Law Practice.  Presenting sponsors are M&I Bank and Carmel Travel Company.  Carmel Chamber of Commerce President Mo Merhoff will be Mistress of Ceremonies.  Please make your reservation now to ensure a seat.  Grab your May Day hat and join us to celebrate spring!  Call 587-1017 for reservations.
